Norway’s equity market closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Oslo OBX Index rising 0.54% to a three-month high as gains in energy and health-care shares offset declines in technology and industrial stocks.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by 144 to 101 on the Oslo Stock Exchange, with 33 stocks unchanged. Frontline Ltd led the OBX Index’s advance, climbing 2.30% to 418.20 Norwegian kroner, a five-year high. Yara International added 1.87% to 446.40, while Telenor rose 1.41% to 136.70.
Decliners included Nordic Semiconductor ASA, which fell 1.24% to 167.70, Kongsberg Gruppen ASA, down 0.98% at 312.30, and Nel ASA, which slipped 0.94% to 2.11.
Commodity futures declined as crude oil prices eased. October WTI crude futures fell 0.75% to $82.90 per barrel, while November Brent crude slipped 0.55% to $88.03. December gold futures dropped 0.85% to $4,624.44 per troy ounce.
The Norwegian krone strengthened against major peers, with the EUR/NOK exchange rate rising 0.23% to 10.88 and USD/NOK up 0.52% to 9.37. The U.S. Dollar Futures Index declined 0.28% to 99.37.
