Google on Wednesday announced productivity-focused enhancements to its voice assistant, Gemini Live, enabling users to manage emails, schedules, and multi-step tasks entirely through voice commands.
The update introduces three core features: Spark, Daily Brief, and expanded inbox management. Spark allows users to create and execute multi-step tasks using natural language, integrating with Google Docs, Sheets, Drive, and the web. Tasks can span days or weeks, and users can dictate unstructured notes that Spark converts into structured outlines in Google Docs. The feature also supports creating weekly meal plans with automated grocery lists.
Daily Brief delivers a spoken summary of daily tasks, calendar events, and emails. Users can request a summary by asking, "Qual é o meu resumo diário?" to receive a hands-free update compiled from Gmail and Calendar without screen interaction. Inbox management functionality enables voice-driven searches, summarization, starring, archiving, or deletion of Gmail messages. Commands such as "Algum e-mail novo?" or specific searches can be executed hands-free.
A new Personal Intelligence layer allows Gemini Live to retain context across past conversations and connect data across Google apps including Gmail, Photos, Search, and YouTube. Users must enable app connections in the Gemini Personal Intelligence settings and access the feature via the Live icon within the Gemini app.
The updates expand Google's voice-driven automation capabilities within its productivity suite, targeting users seeking hands-free task and information management across Google Workspace applications.
