Germany’s benchmark DAX index closed 0.65% higher on Thursday, as gains in software, financial services and food and beverages sectors offset losses in industrials and healthcare.
Advancing issues on the Frankfurt exchange outnumbered decliners by 390 to 261, with 22 stocks unchanged. The MDAX index rose 0.99%, while the TecDAX gained 0.46%. The DAX Volatility Index climbed 4.73% to 17.42, marking a one-month high.
Among the DAX’s top performers, Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. added 3.61% to close at 76.36, while Porsche Automobil Holding SE rose 2.64% to 28.00. Vonovia SE gained 2.62% to 19.21. The biggest decliners included Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST, which fell 1.93% to 38.60, and Rheinmetall AG, which dropped 1.85% to 1,070.20.
In the MDAX, AUTO1 Group SE led gains with a 4.77% advance to 21.98, followed by Aumovio Se at 4.36% to 37.10 and Bechtle AG at 3.65% to 36.96. RENK Group AG was the index’s largest decliner, down 2.23% to 43.58.
The TecDAX saw Bechtle AG again among the top gainers, rising 3.65% to 36.96, while SAP SE added 2.28% to 185.58. Siltronic AG was the weakest performer, down 3.03% to 75.10.
Commodities were mixed, with gold futures up 2.76% to $4,536.49 per troy ounce. Crude oil rose 0.35% to $91.33 per barrel, while Brent crude fell 0.07% to $95.56. The EUR/USD pair was little changed at 1.16, and the US Dollar Index declined 0.62% to 98.94.
