GCT Semiconductor Holding Inc. (NYSE: GCTS) announced a partnership to develop unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) control and communication technologies, leveraging its 5G and 4G LTE semiconductor solutions. The collaboration with an unnamed infrastructure provider aims to integrate GCT’s GDM7243i connectivity solution and IoT module into UAV platforms for mission-critical applications.
The agreement builds on prior work between the companies in the utility sector, where GCT’s IoT modules were deployed in smart metering and grid modernization projects. The new focus extends their cooperation into defense, logistics, and security operations, reflecting GCT’s push to expand its dual-use technology portfolio.
GCT designs and supplies wireless connectivity semiconductors for devices including customer premises equipment, mobile hotspots, routers, and machine-to-machine applications. The company did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement or the identity of its partner.
