France and Saudi Arabia have agreed to develop a Dragon Ball Z-themed amusement park near Paris, a €6 billion ($7 billion) project that will comprise three theme parks and generate approximately 22,000 jobs, according to the Elysee Palace.
The initiative, financed by Saudi Arabia’s Qiddiya, underscores the kingdom’s push to diversify its economy beyond oil while expanding its global leisure and entertainment footprint. No opening date has been announced, and construction is expected to span several years, with key details still pending.
The agreement follows a mutual appreciation for the Dragon Ball Z franchise expressed by French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during Macron’s visit to Saudi Arabia in 2025. The two leaders reconfirmed their shared interest during MBS’s visit to Paris on Monday, when the project was announced at the Elysee Palace amid his rare official trip abroad.
MBS, who owns a castle near Paris, also appeared alongside Macron at the closing ceremony of the Esports World Cup in Paris on Sunday. French authorities framed the project as evidence of France’s continued appeal as a destination for foreign investment.
Qiddiya, the Saudi entertainment and investment group behind the project, is leading the development as part of broader efforts to position the kingdom as a global hub for entertainment and tourism.
