Ernexa Therapeutics announced on September 17, 2026 that Dr. Robert J. Spiegel, M.D., FACP, has been appointed to its board of directors. Spiegel brings more than 25 years of senior leadership in oncology drug development, including a decade as chief medical officer at Schering‑Plough Research Institute (1998‑2009) and a two‑year stint as CMO at PTC Therapeutics (2014‑2016). He has contributed to over 30 New Drug Applications and was involved in the regulatory approval of therapies such as alpha‑interferon and temozolomide for glioblastoma.
Spiegel currently runs Spiegel Consulting LLC, serves as an associate professor of medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, and holds board seats at Geron Corporation, Ayala Pharmaceuticals, RenovoRx and Sun Pharma Advanced Research Corporation. He earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a B.A. from Yale University, and completed a medical oncology fellowship at the National Cancer Institute, NIH.
The board appointment coincides with Ernexa advancing its lead cell‑therapy candidate, ERNA‑101, toward clinical development. ERNA‑101 is an all‑ogeneic, off‑the‑shelf product that uses engineered induced pluripotent stem cells converted into mesenchymal stem cells to stimulate an immune response against cancer, with initial focus on ovarian cancer.
Ernexa, listed on NASDAQ under the ticker ERNA, is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
