Enovix Corporation (NASDAQ: ENVX) plans to double production capacity at its South Korea battery manufacturing facility, targeting mid-2027 completion for drone battery output. The expansion leverages existing company-owned land and production equipment in South Korea, focusing on silicon-blended graphite anode batteries and traditional graphite anode units compliant with U.S. Trade Agreements Act (TAA) standards.
The facility currently supplies batteries to defense, drone, and industrial markets, with all products already 100% TAA compliant. Enovix expects full National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) compliance for its South Korea operations by 2027. The company’s silicon-blended graphite anode technology integrates silicon-carbon elements from its AI-1 platform, designed for high-performance applications.
Pipeline value at the South Korea facility reached $183 million by the end of the second quarter of 2026, up from $130 million at the end of the first quarter. Drone and defense opportunities alone accounted for over $100 million during Q2 2026. Enovix clarified that its customer pipeline reflects estimated peak annual production value for identified design opportunities, not committed orders or backlog.
Headquartered in Fremont, California, Enovix operates facilities in India, South Korea, and Malaysia. The company develops and manufactures lithium-ion batteries with proprietary silicon-anode architectures for smartphones, smart eyewear, defense, industrial, and edge-AI applications.
Interim CEO Ryan Benton stated that the South Korea operations produce advanced, TAA-compliant cells for performance-critical applications.
