Societatea Energetica Electrica SA said shareholders at an extraordinary general meeting approved plans to build a combined thermal and electricity generation facility in Craiova, Dolj County, valued at up to €235 million plus VAT.
The project aims to supply thermal energy to the Craiova District Heating System and provide heating and process energy for Ford Otosan Romania’s operations in the region. The facility will include production capacities, auxiliary equipment, an internal electrical grid, an electrical transformer station, and land enclosure.
Shareholders also authorized Electrica to contract loans of up to €250 million to finance the investment. The board was granted authority to negotiate and finalize implementation, financing, and operation contracts, represent the company before third parties, and oversee project execution, including sub-delegation rights where necessary.
Additional approvals included a delegation contract for production activity within the public district heating service in Craiova, as well as related guarantee contracts.
The extraordinary general meeting, held on Wednesday, was attended by shareholders representing 89.98% of the total voting rights. The shareholder registration reference date was July 23, 2026.
