Ecopetrol S.A. announced that board member Hildebrando Vélez Galeano has resigned, with the departure effective as of the date of the press release. The company disclosed the resignation in a statement issued on September 15, 2026, noting that the notice was received on the preceding Sunday.
Ecopetrol, described as Colombia’s largest company, operates across hydrocarbon production, transportation, refining, petrochemicals and gas distribution, with activities in the United States, Brazil and Mexico. It also holds a 51.4% ownership interest in ISA, a separate entity in which Ecopetrol is a major shareholder.
According to Ecopetrol’s bylaws, the board of directors may continue to deliberate and adopt decisions with the members who remain after the resignation.
