Dutch equities ended lower on Thursday, with the benchmark AEX index down 0.40% at the close of trade in Amsterdam.
Declines in the oil & gas, real estate and basic materials sectors weighed on the index, while advancing stocks narrowly outnumbered decliners by 47 to 41, with 17 issues unchanged.
The AEX’s implied volatility remained flat at 21.09, unchanged from the prior session. The U.S. Dollar Index futures were little changed at 99.07, down 0.02%. The euro held steady against the dollar at 1.17 and the pound at 0.86.
Among individual movers, Relx led the gainers with a 2.83% rise to 31.24, followed by Wolters Kluwer up 1.56% at 70.12 and BE Semiconductor Industries gaining 1.51% to 195.00.
On the downside, Shell fell 1.67% to 38.76, ING Groep declined 1.44% to 30.13 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize dropped 1.23% to 30.56.
Commodities showed mixed performance, with Brent crude for November delivery up 0.68% at $87.53 per barrel and U.S. crude for October delivery rising 0.56% to $82.69. December gold futures gained 0.15% to $4,660.25 per troy ounce.
