D-Wave Quantum Inc. shares declined 1.2% in after-hours trading following the announcement that Chief Financial Officer John Markovich will retire effective September 2, 2026.
Greg Golkov, currently senior vice president of finance at D-Wave, has been appointed acting CFO and principal financial and accounting officer. The company emphasized that Markovich’s resignation was not due to any disagreement over business operations, accounting policies, financial reporting, or internal controls.
D-Wave, which went public in 2022, has raised over $900 million in capital since its listing. Golkov brings more than 25 years of finance and accounting experience from roles at publicly traded and private equity-backed technology firms, including prior tenures at Butterfly Network Inc. and Kaseya.
The quantum computing company operates as the only dual-platform provider, offering both annealing and gate-model quantum systems, alongside associated software and services. D-Wave’s stock movement followed the announcement, with shares slipping in extended trading.
