Colombia's benchmark COLCAP index advanced 0.61% at the close of trade on Friday, reflecting broad gains across the Industrials, Services and Agriculture sectors.
The index's advance was driven by strength in several major constituents, with Grupo de Inversiones Suramericana SA leading the gains. Shares of the Bogotá-based investment group rose 1.90%, or 1,100 points, to close at 59,100. Mineros SA also contributed, climbing 1.16% to 17,500, while Corporacion Financiera Colombiana advanced 1.33% to 18,260.
Decliners outnumbered advancers on the Colombia Stock Exchange, though the overall market tone remained positive. Grupo Argos SA led the losses, falling 4.57% to 20,900. Cementos Argos SA followed with a 3.23% drop to 10,780, while the group's preferred shares declined 2.88% to 15,500.
In commodities, December gold futures rose 1.97% to $4,661.60 per troy ounce, while US coffee and cocoa contracts slipped 1.34% and 1.37%, respectively. The US dollar weakened 0.82% against the Colombian peso, trading at 3,051.89 COP. The US Dollar Index futures were down 0.05% at 98.77.
