Colombia's benchmark COLCAP index declined 0.09% at Tuesday's close, as losses in financials, investment firms and public services offset gains in select equities.
The COLCAP, which tracks the 20 most liquid stocks on the Colombian market, fell 0.09% to close at 1,234.56, reflecting broad-based sector weakness. Financials, investment holdings and utilities were the primary drags on the index, while a handful of large-cap names posted gains.
Corficolombiana's Class B shares advanced 6.67%, adding 1,400 points to close at 22,400, marking a three-year high. Its Class C shares rose 5.49% to 18,840. Grupo de Inversiones Suramericana climbed 5.23%, gaining 3,140 points to finish at 63,140.
Decliners included Grupo Nutresa, which fell 2.21% to 306,900, and Grupo Argos, which dropped 2.00% to 20,580. Ecopetrol, Colombia's largest oil producer, slipped 0.19% to 2,645.
Commodities showed mixed performance. US coffee futures for December delivery declined 1.99% to $334.85 per pound, while December cocoa futures fell 1.70% to $5,844.00 per ton. December gold futures rose 0.39% to $4,715.90 per troy ounce.
The Colombian peso held steady against the US dollar, trading at 3,094.41 COP per USD. The Brazilian real also showed little change versus the peso, at 601.14 BRL per COP. The US Dollar Index futures fell 0.09% to 98.84.
