Clover Health Investments Corp. (NASDAQ: CLOV) appointed former U.S. Senator Robert Torricelli and Dr. Brian J. Miller to its board of directors, effective immediately, the company said.
The appointments fill two previously disclosed vacancies, bringing the board’s total to nine directors. Torricelli will serve on the audit committee, while Dr. Miller will join the clinical committee.
Torricelli represented New Jersey in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate over a 20-year career that included service on the Senate Finance Committee. He has served on the board of Clover’s insurance subsidiaries since 2022. Torricelli currently leads Rosemont Associates, a business strategy firm, and Woodrose Properties, a real estate development business. He has also served as a director of Glassbridge Enterprises Inc. since February 2017.
Dr. Miller is a practicing hospitalist at Johns Hopkins Hospital and an associate professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He serves as a commissioner on the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, which advises Congress on Medicare payment policy, and as vice chairman of the board of trustees for the North Carolina State Health Plan. A visiting fellow at the Hoover Institution, Dr. Miller is board-certified in internal medicine and preventive medicine.
Clover Health operates as a physician enablement technology company focused on Medicare beneficiaries. It provides PPO and HMO Medicare Advantage plans in several states and operates Counterpart Health, a subsidiary that extends its technology platform to healthcare providers outside its Medicare Advantage plan.
