Cloudflare Inc. on Monday announced the launch of Adaptive Intelligence, an automated detection engine embedded in its Bot Management product designed to counter evolving automated cyberattacks.
The system continuously analyzes live traffic across Cloudflare’s global network to identify patterns associated with bot activity, including slow-moving threats such as credential stuffing and web scraping. It then generates short-lived, targeted security rules to block specific threats without manual intervention. Updates deploy automatically, eliminating reliance on scheduled releases.
Adaptive Intelligence combines browser-level session behavior signals from Cloudflare Precursor with network telemetry to refine its machine-learning model in real time. The model retrains continuously using live traffic data rather than periodic updates, enabling faster adaptation to new attack vectors. Prior to deployment, proposed security updates are tested against live traffic to verify accuracy and minimize false positives.
The company processes more than one trillion web visits daily across its network, providing a broad dataset for detecting and mitigating bot-driven threats. Dane Knecht, Cloudflare’s chief technology officer, stated that traditional defenses offer a static target vulnerable to systematic compromise, whereas Adaptive Intelligence creates a moving target that adapts dynamically to attacker behavior.
Cloudflare did not disclose pricing details or specific availability timelines for the new engine.
