Boxabl Inc. has obtained licensed general contracting capacity in California, allowing the modular housing manufacturer to bid directly on land development and installation projects in the state. The Las Vegas-based company, which went public on NASDAQ in July 2026 through a business combination with FG Merger II Corp., previously relied on third-party contractors for permitting, land preparation, foundation work, and installation.
The new capability enables Boxabl to offer end-to-end services, including permit acquisition, regulatory support, infrastructure work, and unit delivery. The company targets two primary customer segments: individual owners purchasing a single Casita unit and large-scale clients such as developers, municipalities, and institutional buyers. Boxabl’s Casita, a 361-square-foot studio unit, unfolds at the installation site.
Founder and Co-CEO Galiano Tiramani stated that the licensed contracting capacity allows Boxabl to lead real estate development initiatives rather than limiting its role to manufacturing. The company plans to expand this model to other states by either hiring licensed general contractors in those jurisdictions or having existing contractors obtain new state licenses.
Boxabl has raised over $230 million from more than 50,000 investors since its founding in 2017. The shift aims to reduce costs between manufacturing and final delivery, streamline pricing for construction and installation, improve quality control and warranty alignment, and strengthen the company’s position in commercial, municipal, and multi-unit project bidding.
