The firm’s bullish outlook reflects expectations that Oxnimbi, a once-daily oral combination therapy, could address a significant unmet need in obstructive sleep apnea treatment. Analysts estimate the drug’s potential to reach blockbuster status, driven by its mechanism of action, which increases upper airway muscle tone during deep sleep to prevent collapse and improve oxygenation. Cantor Fitzgerald’s $60 target implies a valuation roughly double Apnimed’s current share price of $25.63, where the stock has declined 19% over the past week.
Apnimed’s market capitalization stands at $1.42 billion, supported by gross profit margins of 94%. The company’s valuation metrics include a P/E ratio of 4.7, though Cantor Fitzgerald’s bullish case relies on a discounted cash flow model projecting free cash flows through 2033, applying a 15% discount rate and a 3% terminal growth assumption. BofA Securities, which also covers Apnimed, maintains a buy rating with a $41 target, citing a risk-adjusted DCF framework.
Oxnimbi, previously known as AD109, combines the antimuscarinic aryloxybutinin with the norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor atomoxetine. The drug is positioned as a potential alternative to existing therapies such as Straterra, which is approved for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder but not sleep apnea. Apnimed had anticipated its initial public offering to price within the top half of its $14 to $16 marketing range, reflecting investor interest in its pipeline despite recent share price volatility.
Regulatory momentum remains a key catalyst, with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA) target date for Oxnimbi set for February 28, 2027. Analysts note that approval could unlock substantial commercial potential, given the estimated 25 million U.S. adults affected by obstructive sleep apnea, a condition linked to cardiovascular risks including heart failure due to prolonged hypoxia.
