Brazil’s benchmark Bovespa index retreated 0.1% on Wednesday, halting a five-session winning streak as investor caution persisted in the São Paulo market.
The Ibovespa closed at 174,399.38 points, down from an intraday high of 176,296.49 points. The index briefly topped 176,000 points before paring gains in late trading, with the session’s low recorded at 174,208.48 points.
Trading volume totaled R$24 billion, reflecting moderate activity amid ongoing uncertainty. Analysts cited persistent risk aversion as a key factor limiting upside momentum despite the prior five-day advance.
