Mexico’s equities closed higher on Tuesday, with the S&P/BMV IPC gaining 0.79% as gains in industrials, consumer goods and services, and consumer staples offset declines in key laggards. Advancing stocks totaled 121, while 97 declined and 21 were unchanged.
Industrias Peñoles led advancers, rising 2.72% to close at 941.69, a gain of 24.95 points. Alsea added 2.49% to end at 41.21, while Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico climbed 2.00% to 354.53. Among decliners, Orbia fell 4.54% to 20.81, Becle dropped 2.52% to 14.29, and GCC shed 2.07% to 195.57.
Commodities showed mixed performance. December gold futures rose 0.39% to $4,715.90 per troy ounce, while October WTI crude oil fell 4.59% to $81.11 per barrel. November Brent crude edged up 0.27% to $85.98 per barrel. The U.S. dollar index futures were down 0.09% at 98.84, and the USD/MXN pair slipped 0.04% to 16.94, while EUR/MXN held steady at 19.78.
