Shares of Birkenstock Holding rose sharply on Thursday after the German footwear company reported second-quarter revenue that surpassed analyst estimates and raised its full-year outlook.
The company did not disclose specific financial figures in its earnings release. However, Birkenstock said revenue in the three months ended June 30 exceeded expectations, driven by strong demand across its core markets in Europe and North America.
Birkenstock also upgraded its full-year revenue guidance, citing sustained consumer appetite for its products and improved operational efficiency. The company expects revenue growth to accelerate in the second half of the year, supported by ongoing expansion in its wholesale and direct-to-consumer channels.
Analysts had projected revenue of approximately €1.1 billion for the second quarter, according to consensus estimates compiled by Refinitiv. Birkenstock’s updated guidance implies a full-year revenue range of €4.5 billion to €4.7 billion, up from its prior forecast of €4.2 billion to €4.4 billion.
The company’s shares were up more than 10% in early trading, outperforming broader European consumer discretionary indices. Investors welcomed the revenue beat and the upward revision to guidance, which signaled confidence in Birkenstock’s ability to maintain momentum amid economic uncertainty.
Birkenstock, which went public in October 2023, has positioned itself as a premium lifestyle brand with a focus on sustainability and craftsmanship. Its products, including the iconic sandals, have gained traction among younger consumers, contributing to its strong brand recognition and pricing power.
The company’s earnings report follows a period of robust growth in the global footwear market, with demand supported by pent-up post-pandemic spending and a shift toward higher-margin products. Birkenstock’s ability to navigate supply chain challenges and maintain stable pricing has further bolstered its market position.
Analysts at Jefferies and Goldman Sachs noted that Birkenstock’s performance reflects broader trends in the consumer sector, where premium brands with strong brand equity continue to outperform amid inflationary pressures. The company’s guidance update suggests that it remains well-positioned to capitalize on sustained demand for its products in the coming quarters.
