BHP Group Ltd ADR reported a 30% year-over-year increase in underlying attributable profit to $13 billion for the second half of its 2026 financial year, driven by record copper earnings and disciplined cost management.
Underlying earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose 27% to $33 billion, with copper contributing 54% of the total—its highest share on record. Copper EBITDA reached $18 billion at a 70% margin, supported by a 35% annual rise in copper prices. Iron ore prices increased 3% over the same period.
The miner returned $8.7 billion in dividends for the full year, including a $5 billion final payout of $0.99 per share declared for the June half. Net debt fell below $9 billion, while return on capital employed (ROCE) strengthened to 26% and return on equity (ROE) reached 21%. The company’s market capitalization stood at $224.59 billion, with a trailing P/E ratio of 22.01.
