Banco Santander has completed a capital reduction of €231,341,569.50, cancelling 462,683,139 treasury shares. The cancelled shares represent roughly 3.08% of the bank's total share capital.
The reduction was recorded with the Commercial Registry of Santander and the Spanish National Securities Market Commission, bringing total share capital to €7,278,241,400.50 across 14,556,482,801 shares, each with a nominal value of €0.50.
The executive committee approved the move on September 1, the public deed and bylaw amendment were registered on the following Monday, and a notice was filed with the CNMV on August 21, 2026. The transaction was reported on September 9, 2026.
Since 2021, Santander has executed capital reductions totalling €1,557,002,469.50 and cancelled 3,114,004,939 shares, amounting to about 18% of the bank's outstanding shares at the start of that period.
