Dutch insurer ASR Nederland N.V. reported a record €773 million in organic capital creation (OCC) for the first half of 2026, up 7.3% year-over-year, while its Solvency II ratio strengthened to 222% from 218% at year-end 2025.
The company’s operating result rose 9.8% to €901 million, with operating return on equity reaching 15.4%, exceeding the >12% target. ASR’s interim dividend was increased by 9% to €1.39 per share, and a €175 million share buyback was completed.
Non-life premiums grew 6.0% to €2.7 billion, surpassing the 3–5% target range, with disability insurance up 7.6% and property & casualty up 4.1%. The non-life combined ratio (excluding health) stood at 91.6%, compared with 91.4% a year earlier, while the health portfolio’s combined ratio was 99.6% with a customer base of 709,000.
In pensions, defined contribution inflows rose 3.2% to €1.5 billion, assets under management grew 13.8% to €34.1 billion, and annuities inflows surged 38.0% to €436 million. Pension buy-outs included a €213 million deal for Kring Bavaria in H1 2026 and a €145 million Ecolab transaction announced for H2 2026.
The Bovemij acquisition, finalized on July 1, 2026, strengthens ASR’s position as the third-largest Dutch property and casualty insurer, with expected annual premiums of €400 million and a run-rate OCC contribution of €25 million post-integration. The deal reduced the Solvency II ratio by 3.5 percentage points at closing.
ASR’s financial leverage improved to 21.0% from 21.6% at year-end 2025, and its interest coverage ratio strengthened to 10x from 9x. The insurer holds an S&P Insurer Financial Strength Rating of A+ with a Stable Outlook. The company also reported a 28.5% reduction in its carbon footprint, exceeding its 2030 target of a 25% cut versus 2023 levels.
