Argo Graphene Solutions Corp. announced the appointment of battery scientist Dr. Said Al-Hallaj to its board of directors, signaling a push to commercialize its graphene technology. The move comes as the company evaluates applications for its STREAM graphene and STREAM-O graphene oxide products across energy storage, advanced electronics, AI infrastructure, construction, and composites.
Dr. Al-Hallaj, who holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, brings over 25 years of experience in lithium-ion batteries, battery thermal management, energy storage, and electric mobility. He currently serves as Chief Battery Scientist at Beam Global and is the founder and CEO of NETenergy, a Chicago-based thermal-energy-storage technology company. His research has garnered more than 17,000 citations, and a Stanford-led ranking placed him in the top 2% of chemical engineering researchers.
The appointment aligns with Argo’s strategy to leverage world-class scientific expertise as it advances its graphene production technology. The company holds an exclusive license for STREAM, a graphene production method developed by Grapherry, with a contractual pathway to full ownership. Dr. Vikas Berry, Grapherry founder and Argo CEO, highlighted Al-Hallaj’s addition as critical to the company’s development, stating the board is focused on translating graphene research into commercially viable applications.
Dr. Al-Hallaj, who also serves on Grapherry’s Advisory Board, emphasized his familiarity with STREAM and its potential across advanced-material applications. The board includes Sean McAlpine, an Argo director with expertise in chemical and nanomaterials engineering, particularly in cementitious systems and industrial materials.
