Ardmore Shipping Corporation (NYSE: ASC) has exercised options for two additional Handysize product and chemical tankers, increasing its newbuilding program to six vessels from Wuhu Shipyard in China.
The two new 40,500 deadweight-ton vessels are scheduled for delivery from late 2028 onward, with no further options outstanding under the contract. Ardmore, which operates under Bermuda registry and is headquartered in Hamilton, did not disclose the financial terms of the expanded order or the total value of the newbuilding program.
The company specializes in transporting refined petroleum products, chemicals, and other liquid cargo via voyage and time charters. The expanded fleet will support Ardmore’s existing operations in liquid bulk shipping, though specific commercial or strategic rationale for the additional tonnage was not provided in the announcement.
