American Healthcare REIT appoints Aric Chang as new CFO

American Healthcare REIT Inc. named Aric Chang as its next chief financial officer, effective Oct. 1, 2026, following the retirement of Brian Peay, who will step down on Sept. 30 after 10 years in the role.

Chang brings more than 20 years of real estate finance experience to the Irvine, California-based healthcare REIT. His prior roles include serving as CFO of real estate at Public Storage, where he oversaw capital deployment exceeding $16 billion across acquisitions, development, lending and M&A. He also held senior finance positions at NYSE-listed REITs, including Rexford Industrial and Rouse Properties, where he managed corporate finance and debt restructuring before Brookfield’s acquisition of the latter.

At J.P. Morgan Asset Management, Chang served as an Executive Director and real estate investment committee member, managing a platform overseeing $80 billion in real estate assets. Earlier in his career, he held research roles at Green Street Advisors and Oak Hill REIT Management.

The appointment follows the REIT’s strategy to strengthen its executive leadership amid expansion in clinical healthcare real estate, which includes senior housing, skilled nursing facilities and outpatient medical buildings across the U.S., U.K. and Isle of Man. Chang holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Peay, who will retire after a decade as CFO, will be succeeded by Chang, who assumes the role at the start of October 2026.
