Albany Engineered Composites, a unit of Albany International, has extended its manufacturing agreement with Boeing to continue producing composite fuselage frames for the 787 Dreamliner. The renewed contract covers approximately 300 unique composite frames, including forward sections 41 and 43, and aft section 47.
The supplier has manufactured composite fuselage frames for sections 41 and 43 since receiving Boeing’s original award in 2014. Production for the 787 remains centered at Albany’s facility in Salt Lake City, Utah, while the company’s headquarters is located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Albany International, which operates 25 facilities in 12 countries and employs roughly 5,700 people globally, said the extended partnership reflects more than a decade of collaboration with Boeing. Chris Stone, president of Albany Engineered Composites, noted the renewed agreement underscores the reliability of the supplier’s composite manufacturing capabilities for commercial aircraft programs.
