Customer interactions facilitated by 8x8's AI Studio platform have grown nearly ninefold since its early access launch in April 2026, the company said.
More than a dozen industries are now developing and deploying AI agents for customer experience on the platform, which enables non-experts to build and deploy agents using natural language prompts without specialized AI expertise. The platform supports GDPR compliance and is designed to meet HIPAA requirements, according to 8x8.
Usage metrics released Thursday show organizations across sectors such as utilities, luxury automotive retail and building products have adopted the technology. PrepayPower, an Irish utility services provider, reported that customer interactions handled through AI Studio have risen significantly since implementation.
Geoff Keenan, Digital Transformation Manager at PrepayPower, said the platform solved an initial problem and continued delivering value, prompting sustained use. LSH Auto, a British luxury car dealership group, deployed an agent capable of serving across all locations, identifying high-value customers and routing them efficiently to appropriate staff. Chris Gensmantel, Chief Technology Officer at LSH Auto, highlighted the agent's ability to standardize reception coverage and customer routing.
PrimeSource, a building products company, integrated the platform across chat, web, email and phone channels using a single interface. Genelle Chamberlain, IT Manager at PrimeSource, noted the consolidation of these channels into one system as a key advantage.
Research cited by Metrigy indicates 72% of organizations prefer customized AI agents for customer service, reflecting a broader industry trend toward tailored solutions. Irwin Lazar, President of Metrigy, said 8x8 AI Studio addresses this demand by allowing rapid agent creation and deployment through natural language conversations.
The platform operates on consumption-based pricing and remains in early access for 8x8 customers, offering a free tier for agent creation and testing. New functionalities include unified deployment across voice, SMS, WhatsApp and web widgets, call history retention and integration with 8x8 Contact Center queues. Partners managing multiple customer accounts can now access consolidated billing and a shared credit pool for capacity allocation.
Specific implementations include PrepayPower's use of priority call routing and quality scoring on completed calls, LSH Auto's reception coverage and customer routing, and PrimeSource's internal IT triage agent integrated with their ticketing system.
