Trump Media reports $238M quarterly loss, wider than year ago
Social media firm's net loss surged to $238 million in Q2, up from $20 million in the same period last year, as costs rose sharply.

Trump Media & Technology Group reported a quarterly net loss of $238 million, a significant increase from the $20 million loss recorded in the same quarter a year earlier.
The social media company, which operates Truth Social, cited higher operating expenses as the primary driver of the widening loss. Total operating costs rose to $124 million in the second quarter, up from $25 million in the prior-year period.
Revenue remained minimal at $1.7 million, unchanged from the same quarter last year, reflecting limited monetization of the platform. The company attributed the revenue stability to ongoing efforts to expand user engagement and advertising capabilities.
Truth Social’s user base has grown since its launch, but the platform has yet to achieve significant profitability. The company continues to rely on funding from its public listing and other financial resources to sustain operations.
Trump Media’s shares, which debuted on the Nasdaq in March 2024, have faced volatility amid concerns over its financial performance and long-term viability. The stock closed 2.3% lower on Tuesday following the earnings report.
Analysts noted that the company’s ability to reduce losses and achieve profitability remains uncertain without substantial revenue growth or cost controls.
