Three Innoviva therapies named Prix Galien finalists

Innoviva Inc. said on Friday three of its therapies have been named finalists for the Prix Galien USA award, an annual recognition of pharmaceutical innovation.

The therapies advancing to the final round include YUPELRI (revefenacin) inhalation solution, a long-acting muscarinic antagonist for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); ARIKAYCE (amikacin liposome inhalation suspension), an inhaled antibiotic for nontuberculous mycobacteria lung disease; and BREZTRI AEROSPHERE (budesonide, glycopyrrolate and formoterol fumarate), a triple-combination inhaler for COPD.

The Prix Galien USA awards, often referred to as the "Nobel Prize of biopharma," honor drug candidates that demonstrate significant therapeutic advances. Winners will be announced at an event scheduled for October 24 in New York.

Innoviva, a biopharmaceutical company focused on respiratory therapeutics, said the recognition underscores the clinical value of its pipeline and its commitment to addressing unmet medical needs in respiratory diseases. The company did not disclose which stage of the award process its therapies have reached beyond being named finalists.

The awards are judged by an independent panel of experts in medicine, science and biopharmaceutical research. Past winners have included therapies for cancer, rare diseases and infectious conditions.
