Swiss economy expands 1.9% in Q2, accelerating from first quarter

Switzerland's economy expanded by 1.9% in the second quarter compared to the previous three-month period, official data showed Thursday, marking a significant acceleration from the first quarter's pace.

Gross domestic product rose 2.8% on an annual basis, substantially outpacing the 0.5% year-over-year growth recorded in Q1. The quarterly acceleration—climbing from 0.6%—signals a notable rebound in economic activity after a sluggish start to the year.

The figures were released by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs and published on its website on September 3, 2026.
