Retail Investors Cautious on Apple Post-Event, Webull UK's Saunders Says

Retail investors approached Apple's recent product event with caution rather than enthusiasm, trading data from Webull UK suggested, reflecting a broader reluctance to chase tech hype.

Nick Saunders, Webull UK's chief executive, noted that many traders appeared to have taken profits ahead of the launch rather than adding to positions.

"It looks as though investors had been taking profits ahead of the event, suggesting a reluctance to buy in to hype," Saunders said.

Despite the tepid reception, Saunders advised against drawing sweeping conclusions from the immediate post-event reaction. Historically, Apple stock drops approximately 70% of the time following a new product launch, though shares often regain ground within the following month or so, he observed.

Saunders also highlighted a shift in what drives Apple's market valuation. Hardware announcements, including the newly unveiled foldable iPhone Duo — which he described as making for "a great photoshoot" — no longer move markets the way they once did.

Instead, investors are fixated on Apple's artificial intelligence strategy and the rollout of its "Apple Intelligence" version of Siri, currently available in beta. Saunders characterized the AI initiative as critical to the stock's longer-term trajectory.
