Galantas Gold Corporation (TSX-V: GAL | AIM: GAL) has initiated a 15,000-meter drilling program at its Andacollo Gold project in Chile’s La Serena region, targeting extensions of high-grade gold zones and newly identified mineralization, including potential copper deposits adjacent to Teck Resources’ Carmen de Andacollo mine. The program, led by the Tres Perlas pit area, marks the start of a multi-phase exploration effort to refine the project’s mineral resource estimates and support future mine planning.
The drilling campaign, announced on [Wednesday date], began with the arrival of the first rig on Tuesday. Two additional units are expected within weeks, bringing the total to three operational rigs by the end of September. The initial hole will probe extensions of existing high-grade gold mineralization, newly discovered sheeted quartz-sulphide veins at surface, and potential chalcocite mineralization linked to the neighboring mine. The company also aims to evaluate porphyry copper targets, which could enhance its broader gold-copper asset portfolio.
Galantas Gold’s CEO, Mario Stifano, emphasized the significance of the program, stating that the exploration team has identified multiple high-potential targets within the current resource pit shell that could elevate the overall gold grade of the Andacollo Gold mineral resource. The project aligns with the company’s broader focus on advancing its Indiana Project and Andacollo Gold Project in Chile, where it seeks to expand its exploration footprint and support future production plans.
The drilling is overseen by Dorian L. Nicol, a qualified person under NI 43-101 and the AIM Rules for Companies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. With three rigs scheduled to operate by September, the program aims to deliver critical data by mid-2024, underpinning Galantas Gold’s strategy to optimize its Chile-based assets.
