GMF, FTAI Aviation expand engine maintenance partnership through 2031

PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia Tbk (GMF) and FTAI Aviation Ltd. have expanded their engine maintenance partnership, formalizing a five-year agreement during the MRO Asia-Pacific 2026 conference at Singapore EXPO.

Under the arrangement, GMF will service CFM56-5B and CFM56-7B engines alongside GTCP131-9 series auxiliary power units for FTAI and its customers. The deal guarantees FTAI access to GMF’s maintenance capacity over the full five-year term. Both companies indicated the framework could later encompass module and piece-part capabilities, with potential extension to CFM LEAP engines.

FTAI will supply technical expertise and training support to GMF’s operations as part of the expanded partnership.

GMF operates out of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Indonesia and holds certifications from more than 30 countries, including approvals from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency. The company said it has served more than 190 customers across over 70 countries. GMF has 77 years of experience in aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul services and became publicly listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2017.

"This collaboration responds to growing engine maintenance demand from FTAI, its customers, and the broader aviation market across the region by leveraging GMF's existing MRO capabilities and capacity," said GMF CEO Andi Fahrurrozi.

David Moreno, president of FTAI, said the partnership "brings committed engine volumes to GMF, positioning maintenance capacity closer to customers in Asia-Pacific with faster turnaround times."

The announcement comes as maintenance, repair and overhaul providers across the Asia-Pacific region face rising demand for engine servicing driven by fleet growth and aging aircraft populations.
