Cognizant Technology Solutions reported a 37% net cost saving on a legacy modernization project for Odyssey Logistics, attributing the gain to its use of Devin, an AI software engineering platform developed by Cognition.
The project, now live in production, involved converting a transportation management platform built on legacy Microsoft Access and Visual Basic for Applications forms into cloud-native applications for Odyssey Logistics, which operates a freight network exceeding $3 billion.
A seven-person Cognizant team handled the conversion, with all changes reviewed by technical leads or architects before implementation. Delivery throughput rose by approximately one-third, and the project was completed within a fixed budget and an accelerated timeline.
Odyssey first tested the approach on a separate legacy application before committing to the transportation management platform; that initial engagement was completed 21 days after kickoff.
Cognizant and Cognition entered into an AI engineering collaboration in January 2026. More than 3,000 Cognizant associates have been trained on the Devin platform. The company said Devin reduced the time required to produce release-ready code by more than 50% in its own engineering work.
Joint offerings between the two companies include modernization and upgrade services for conversion, migration and testing; quality engineering services for test case generation; and a cyber defense offering. Both firms said they plan to extend their collaborative offerings across security remediation, AI assurance, application maintenance, legacy modernization and software development.
