SentinelOne (S) reported a strong second-quarter performance and raised its full-year revenue guidance on Thursday, telling investors at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference the company has confidence in its growth trajectory.
CFO Sonalee described the quarter as a "great quarter," noting that the company boosted its full-year forecast by "significantly more than the beat, just showing our confidence in the outlook in the business." The earnings beat was accompanied by improved net retention, particularly among the company's $100,000-plus customer cohort, over the past two quarters.
AI security products were a focal point. SentinelOne said its AI-specific offerings—Prompt Security and Purple AI—posted triple year-over-year ARR growth. CEO Tomer emphasized that SentinelOne's core technology, built roughly a decade ago on generic behavioral analysis rather than reliance on AI signatures or known threat libraries, is well-suited to the current threat landscape.
"What these agents have done is nothing that a human attacker has not done in the past. In essence, we're not seeing any type of new behavior. We are seeing a new level of velocity, we're seeing a new level of speed, but we're not seeing new techniques," Tomer said.
He added that automated renewals are being rolled out across the business, especially targeting the "long-tail" customer base to reach clients earlier and improve predictability. SentinelOne also confirmed participation in frontier AI access programs including Project Glasswing and Daybreak.
On the competitive front, Tomer was critical of industry marketing narratives. "Size is just not a good reflection of quality of technology. Bigger microphones, for sure. More confusion, for sure. Controlling a narrative or weaving a narrative, for sure," he said, calling some segments of the industry "cybersecurity theater that is completely disconnected from what is actually happening in environments." He also noted that no vendor can credibly claim it stops all breaches.
Enterprise deal cycles, historically ranging from six to 12 months, experienced a "slight contraction" and moved faster during the period, the company said.
SentinelOne posted 21% revenue growth over the trailing twelve months and maintained a 73% gross profit margin. Analysts forecast the company to reach profitability with earnings of $0.33 per share, and current price targets imply 29% upside potential, according to data referenced at the conference.
Tomer cautioned that AI alignment concerns will ultimately overshadow cybersecurity challenges. "The AI alignment issue is going to supersede pretty much every other problem we see in cybersecurity," he said.
