Acadia Healthcare Sees Clear Path to $200M EBITDA as Facility Ramp Nears Completion

Acadia Healthcare (ACHC) said it has increased confidence in achieving $200 million in incremental EBITDA as its multi-year facility expansion enters its final phase, with the last of a four-cohort group of new centers opening in August 2024.

CEO Debbie Osteen, who returned to the role in January after roughly nine months away, and CFO David Joyner, who rejoined at the end of April, presented at the Jefferies Healthcare Services and Technology Conference on September 14, 2026. Both emphasized that the company’s newest facilities are ramping faster than historical norms.

The two facilities that opened at the end of June completed their survey and accreditation process in record time, cutting what Joyner called the typical timeline roughly in half. Both have now moved into payer contracting and census build-out. A third facility opened in the third quarter of 2025 had already reached breakeven.

"We have, as a management team, increased confidence and visibility into being able to achieve that $200 million incremental EBITDA number," Joyner said. The target is tied to approximately 3,000 new beds added since 2023.

Acadia reported last-12-months EBITDA of $535 million as of Q2 2026, against total debt of about $2.59 billion. The company's market capitalization stood at $2.61 billion, with shares trading around $28 — up nearly 100 percent year to date.

Acute volume grew 5.5 percent in the second quarter. Sequential bad debts and denials remained stable compared with the first quarter, and management expects year-over-year headwinds to continue easing through the back half of the year.

The labor market was described as stable, with no acceleration in wage inflation and improving retention. Onboarding includes feedback checkpoints at 30, 60, and 90 days.

Osteen highlighted the structural demand tailwind behind the expansion. She said the incidence of mental illness rose by approximately 10 million people from 2020 to 2024, yet only one in five individuals with a mental illness seeks treatment. In the company's community treatment segment, roughly 90 percent of clinic patients receive methadone as primary treatment, while only about 25 percent of those needing substance-use treatment access it nationally.

Acadia's service lines span acute care, residential treatment centers, specialty services, and community treatment centers.
