Sift, a data infrastructure provider founded by former SpaceX engineers, has partnered with BlackBerry’s QNX division to deliver real‑time data streaming from embedded systems. The integration works through existing telemetry streams on QNX OS, including the MQTT protocol, and does not require modifications to device firmware. Devices running QNX OS 8.0 can forward MQTT messages to Sift’s platform, where the data is consolidated onto a single timeline and made queryable via SQL for fault analysis and cross‑unit comparison.
QNX technology is present in about 275 million vehicles worldwide, with adopters including BMW, Bosch, Continental, Honda, Mercedes‑Benz, Toyota and Volkswagen. The system guarantees that data can be queried within one second of leaving the device. Romain Saha, Senior Director of Strategic Alliances at QNX, said the collaboration gives customers a path from QNX‑powered devices to real‑time analysis. Austin Spiegel, Co‑Founder and CEO of Sift, added that the next decade of hardware will be won by teams that learn fastest from their machines, noting that QNX runs the machines the world cannot afford to get wrong.
