Grupo Cibest posts 28.7% ROE in Q2 2026 on margin expansion
Spanish financial services firm reports sharp rise in return on equity as profit margins widen, driven by core business performance.

Grupo Cibest said on Tuesday its return on equity (ROE) surged to 28.7% in the second quarter of 2026, up from 22.1% in the same period a year earlier, as operating margins expanded across its core business segments.
The Madrid-based financial services group attributed the improvement to disciplined cost management and sustained revenue growth in its lending and advisory operations. Analysts noted the ROE figure exceeded market expectations, signaling strong operational efficiency.
The company did not provide detailed segment-level earnings breakdowns in its preliminary results presentation. However, management highlighted that net interest margins widened by 45 basis points year-over-year, underpinning the overall profitability gains.
Grupo Cibest, listed on the Madrid Stock Exchange, has not yet released its full quarterly financial statements. The preliminary results were disclosed via an investor presentation slide deck ahead of its scheduled earnings call next week.
Investors will await further details on revenue drivers and asset quality metrics when the company publishes its complete financial report. The stock has gained 8% in 2026 to date, outperforming the broader Spanish financial index.
