Google Cloud is nearing a nearly $100 billion annual revenue run rate, CEO Thomas Kurian said at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference on September 8, 2026, as the company's AI push drives accelerating customer spending and subscription commitments across its platform.
New customer acquisitions are growing more than two times the rate of a year ago, according to Kurian. Deals above $100 million are expanding more than two times quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year. When customers commit $100 in spending, they typically exceed that figure by more than 50%, meaning they spend more than $150 in practice.
More than 17 product lines now generate over $1 billion each, Kurian noted. Eighty percent of Google Cloud customers use AI products, and AI customers consume 1.8 times more products than non-AI users. The estimated lifetime value of a Gemini Enterprise customer over five years is 1.5 times higher than that of non-AI users.
Gemini Enterprise is used by 90% of the Fortune 100. Google Cloud also disclosed price-performance gains for its infrastructure: training is 2.7 times more cost-effective than competitors, inference is 80% more efficient, and CPU-based workloads see a 30% improvement. The cost to run machine learning models is 2.5 times better than the industry leader, Kurian said.
On silicon, Google Cloud offers three types — Nvidia GPUs, proprietary Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), and Arm processors for running generated code. The TPU accelerator business is more than twice the size of the next largest hyperscaler's accelerator business. Payback periods for AI servers average less than two years in aggregate, and roughly half that for proprietary silicon. Most infrastructure contracts run as long-term agreements of five years.
Kurian also addressed Google Cloud's cybersecurity offering after the company acquired Wiz in 2023. The acquisition was driven by AI models' growing ability to write and understand code and configurations, which changed the threat landscape. Together, Google Cloud and Wiz developed CodeMender to repair code after vulnerabilities are identified. Ninety percent of the Fortune 100 use Google Cloud cyber tools for AI threat defense.
"An AI system by itself cannot protect you. A security platform by itself cannot protect you. You need that combination, and we're uniquely capable of offering that," Kurian said.
Kurian emphasized that Google Cloud remains primarily a products and solutions business rather than services-driven. "We've never been a services company. In fact, our services business as a percentage of our total business is the smallest of any hyperscaler. We are a products and solutions company."
Deployments are offered via cloud subscriptions, capital purchases for client data centers, and neocloud arrangements such as a setup with Blackstone. Google Cloud serves customers ranging from PepsiCo, Macy's, and Merck to Deutsche Börse, Pfizer, Accenture, and the U.S. government through its Genesis Mission initiative.
Kurian, who joined Google Cloud as CEO in November 2018, described the division's role within Alphabet. "Google Cloud is Alphabet's enterprise division. We take the products that Google builds and bring it to small enterprises, large enterprises, and governments around the world."
