French stocks fall as CAC 40 drops 0.37% on sector losses

French stocks fall as CAC 40 drops 0.37% on sector losses

French equities ended lower on Monday as losses in the Oil & Gas, Healthcare and Industrial sectors outweighed gains elsewhere on the Paris Stock Exchange.

The CAC 40 index declined 0.37% to close at 8,484.43, while the broader SBF 120 index fell by the same margin. Declining issues outnumbered advancers by 271 to 190, with 83 stocks unchanged.

Among the CAC 40 components, Publicis Groupe led gains with a 1.71% rise to 104.10, marking a new 52-week high. L'Oreal added 1.53% to 392.50, and LVMH climbed 1.51% to 459.35. On the downside, Stellantis fell 4.71% to 4.43, STMicroelectronics dropped 2.00% to 42.22, and TotalEnergies declined 1.89% to 75.98.

In the SBF 120, Ipsos advanced 2.77% to 40.06, Worldline rose 2.69% to 12.61, and Edenred gained 2.39% to 29.94, also reaching a new 52-week high. Euroapi led decliners with a 3.78% drop to 0.94, setting an all-time low, while X Fab Silicon Foundries fell 3.29% to 5.73.

Commodities showed mixed performance, with gold futures for December delivery rising 0.76% to $4,716.10 per troy ounce. Crude oil for October delivery fell 2.58% to $84.81 per barrel, and Brent crude for November delivery dropped 2.23% to $90.60. The U.S. dollar index futures eased 0.17% to 98.90, while the EUR/USD and EUR/GBP pairs remained broadly flat.
