Codexis Q2 earnings beat estimates by $0.01 per share

Codexis Inc. reported second-quarter earnings that topped Wall Street estimates by $0.01 per share, while revenue surpassed expectations, the biotechnology company said in a filing on Tuesday.

The Redwood City, California-based firm posted adjusted earnings of $0.07 per share for the quarter ended June 30, compared with the $0.06 per share average estimate from analysts surveyed by Refinitiv. Revenue totaled $78.4 million, exceeding the $76.5 million forecast.

Codexis attributed the results to continued demand for its enzyme-based solutions in pharmaceutical and industrial applications. The company’s gross margin expanded to 54.2% from 51.8% in the same period last year, reflecting improved operational efficiency.

Shares of Codexis rose 3.2% in extended trading following the release. The stock has gained approximately 18% year-to-date, outperforming the broader biotech sector.

Codexis has not provided formal guidance for the current quarter, but management highlighted ongoing expansion in its enzyme production capacity to meet rising demand from drug developers and manufacturers.

The company’s performance follows a period of volatility in biotech stocks amid shifting interest-rate expectations and regulatory scrutiny over drug pricing policies.
