Candel Therapeutics Appoints Martine Zimmermann to Board

Candel Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: CADL) announced the appointment of Martine Zimmermann, PharmD, to its board of directors, effective Monday. The filing was published September 10, 2026.

Zimmermann currently serves as executive vice president, head of regulatory affairs, quality and alliance management at Inventiva S.A. She previously held the role of senior vice president and head of global regulatory affairs and R&D quality at Ipsen Biopharmaceuticals and spent more than 13 years in senior regulatory leadership positions at Alexion Pharma International. She holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Strasbourg.

Candel described Zimmermann's appointment as bringing over 30 years of global regulatory affairs and quality expertise spanning multiple drug-development phases.

The board move comes as Candel prepares to submit a Biologics License Application for aglatimagene besadenovec in the fourth quarter of 2026. The investigational therapy is a replication-defective adenovirus engineered to deliver the herpes simplex virus thymidine kinase gene into a patient's tumor. More than 1,000 patients have been dosed with aglatimagene across clinical trials, though the treatment is not currently approved by the FDA or any other regulatory authority.

Candel has completed phase 2a clinical trials of aglatimagene in non-small cell lung cancer and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, as well as a phase 3 trial in localized prostate cancer. The FDA has granted Fast Track Designation and Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy Designation for the therapy in newly diagnosed localized prostate cancer in patients with intermediate- to high-risk disease.

Candel Therapeutics, based in Needham, Massachusetts, develops multimodal immunotherapies for cancer patients and operates two clinical-stage platforms built on modified adenovirus and herpes simplex virus gene constructs.
