Brenntag raises 2026 outlook after strong Q2 results

Brenntag SE raised its 2026 outlook on Thursday after reporting stronger-than-anticipated second-quarter results, driven by robust demand across its core industrial and healthcare segments.

The German chemicals distributor posted adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of €245 million for Q2 2026, exceeding market expectations of €220 million. Revenue rose 8% year-over-year to €3.8 billion, supported by higher volumes in specialty chemicals and pharmaceutical distribution.

Management attributed the outperformance to sustained pricing power, operational efficiency gains and favorable foreign exchange effects. The company also noted improved supply chain stability, which has eased prior bottlenecks in key markets.

Brenntag revised its 2026 EBITDA guidance upward to a range of €950 million to €1.0 billion, up from the prior forecast of €850 million to €900 million. The new outlook reflects confidence in continued demand recovery and pricing discipline across its global operations.

Chief Executive Officer Christian Kohlpaintner highlighted the company’s resilience amid macroeconomic uncertainty, stating that Brenntag’s diversified portfolio and strong customer relationships have mitigated risks from volatile raw material costs and geopolitical tensions.

The outlook adjustment follows a series of analyst upgrades, with several citing Brenntag’s ability to pass through cost inflation to customers without significant volume loss. Shares in Brenntag were up 3.2% in early trading on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Thursday, outperforming the broader chemicals sector.

Analysts at Jefferies and Barclays noted that the revised guidance underscores Brenntag’s position as a leader in industrial distribution, with potential for further upside if demand in Europe and North America stabilizes.

The company plans to provide additional details on its 2026 strategy during its full-year results presentation scheduled for November 2026.
