Manulife Financial Corporation announced that Sarah Chapman will assume the role of Global Chief Marketing & Customer Experience Officer, effective January 1, 2027. She will report to President and CEO Phil Witherington, join the Executive Leadership Team, and oversee brand, marketing, and enterprise customer experience strategies across the company's operations in Canada, Asia, Europe and the United States, where it operates primarily under the John Hancock brand.
Chapman presently serves as Chief Marketing Officer for Manulife Canada and heads global digital, customer centricity and sustainability initiatives; she previously held the same role for Manulife Wealth and Asset Management. Her predecessor, Karen Leggett, is set to retire at the end of 2026. As of the end of 2025, Manulife employed more than 39,000 staff, engaged over 109,000 agents and served more than 36 million customers. The company's shares trade under ticker MFC on the Toronto, New York and Philippine exchanges and as 945 on the Hong Kong exchange. Witherington commented that Chapman is "a proven global leader with deep knowledge of our business, customers and enterprise strategy," noting the appointment reflects the firm's internal talent pipeline and succession planning.
