River Valley Community Bancorp Founder Mike Wheeler Dies at 76

Michael C. Wheeler, a prominent figure in regional banking and community leadership, died on August 29, 2026, at the age of 76. Wheeler served as a founding director of River Valley Community Bancorp and its operating subsidiary, River Valley Community Bank, which was established in 2006. He remained on the board of River Valley Community Bank until his death, contributing to its growth and governance since its inception. Wheeler was also a founding member of California Independent Bancorp and Feather River State Bank, founded in 1975, serving on the boards of both organizations until 2004. He held the position of Chairman of Feather River State Bank from 1988 to 1993.
