Bank of America pledges $250 billion for U.S. infrastructure financing

Bank of America Corp. on Monday announced a $250 billion financing initiative aimed at supporting U.S. infrastructure projects in technology and energy sectors over the next decade.

The program, part of the bank’s broader environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy, will target investments in clean energy, digital infrastructure and sustainable transportation, the company said in a statement. Funds will be deployed through loans, bonds and other financing instruments, with allocations expected to ramp up gradually through 2034.

The initiative aligns with federal and state efforts to modernize critical infrastructure, including the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which allocated $1.2 trillion toward domestic projects. Bank of America’s pledge follows similar commitments from peers such as JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs, which have also outlined multi-billion-dollar sustainability-linked financing programs in recent years.

Chief Executive Officer Brian Moynihan highlighted the bank’s role in facilitating long-term capital deployment to address structural gaps in the U.S. economy. 'This commitment underscores our dedication to driving sustainable growth while supporting the transition to a low-carbon future,' Moynihan said in the statement.

The financing will prioritize projects that demonstrate measurable environmental benefits, including renewable energy generation, grid modernization and energy efficiency upgrades. Bank of America did not disclose specific allocation targets by sector or timeline for individual disbursements.

Analysts noted that the pledge reflects growing institutional interest in ESG-aligned investments, though the scale of impact will depend on execution and broader market conditions.
