Indian steel pipe manufacturer Welspun Corp surged to a record high on Friday after disclosing a $1.8 billion U.S. order, the company’s largest to date. The contract, sourced from its U.S. facility, will be executed across fiscal years 2028 and 2029, expanding Welspun’s global order book to $4.4 billion.
The company’s shares rose 14.8% to 2,288.0 rupees, outpacing the flat performance of the Nifty 50 index. Welspun announced the order in a statement released late Thursday, triggering the sharp rally. The contract marks a significant milestone for the Indian manufacturer, reinforcing its position in the U.S. energy infrastructure supply chain.
Welspun Corp, an established player in steel pipes, has not provided additional details on the end-use of the pipes or the specific U.S. client involved. The order’s scale underscores the growing demand for energy sector infrastructure, particularly in the U.S., where pipeline projects remain a key focus for industrial suppliers.
