U.S. equities closed higher on Wednesday, snapping a three-day losing streak as investors sought bargains in oversold sectors following recent risk-off sentiment. The S&P 500 rose 0.46% to 7,666.82, while the Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.46% to 26,219.85. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.56% to 53,066.25.
Small-cap stocks outperformed, with the Russell 2000 gaining 1.23%, as regional banks, airlines and precious metals miners led sector advances. The Philadelphia SE Semiconductor Index, however, remained under pressure, trading higher but still down nearly a quarter since late June amid concerns over prolonged weakness in the chip sector.
Lauren Cassidy, Chief Investment Officer of Founders 100 ETF, attributed the rebound to expectations that energy price volatility and inflation pressures would ease once geopolitical tensions subside. "The conflict has lasted longer than anticipated, but once it ends, energy prices will stabilize and inflation concerns will ease," she said. Cassidy also highlighted strong earnings fundamentals, driven by accelerating artificial intelligence adoption, as a key support for markets.
The AI-driven investment strategy referenced in the report, ProPicks AI, noted historical gains of 185% for Super Micro Computer and 157% for AppLovin in past simulations. The tool’s performance track record was cited as part of the broader discussion around AI’s expanding role in equity selection, though no direct investment recommendation was provided.
