UroGen Pharma Ltd. (NASDAQ: URGN) has entered a strategic option and research license agreement with IntraGel Therapeutics Ltd., granting exclusive options to develop up to three oncology products using IntraGel’s SRGel platform, a biodegradable sustained-release drug delivery system designed for localized tumor treatment.
The agreement includes an equity investment of up to $7 million from UroGen to IntraGel. Under the deal, UroGen secures a research license and exclusive options to license and develop products based on the SRGel platform, which utilizes a water-free, solvent-free fatty-acid polymer matrix to enable prolonged drug release within solid tumors via an injectable gel-like delivery system.
The collaboration centers on TumoCure, an investigational cisplatin-based therapy for advanced head and neck cancer formulated with the SRGel platform. UroGen obtained an exclusive option to license the therapy following the completion of IntraGel’s Phase 2 clinical study, with IntraGel pursuing regulatory approval via the FDA’s 505(b)(2) pathway.
Early clinical data presented at the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting showed the therapy was generally well tolerated in Phase 1b patients (n=8), with low systemic cisplatin exposure and early signs of anti-tumor activity in heavily pretreated patients. UroGen, based in Princeton, New Jersey, currently markets two approved products for urothelial cancer treatment.
Liz Barrett, President and CEO of UroGen, stated the agreement represents an important step in expanding the company’s oncology pipeline and technological capabilities.
